Miranda bent down and took the picture from the hand.

The picture revealed a family.

Liquid stopped over her. "I'm sorry." He quickly said as the sounds of new vehicles arrived around them.

"I knew that they wouldn't be just horrible men." Miranda said. "But looking at this... seeing his family. It makes it harder to know we're the reason they no longer have a parent."

"No men do horrid things. They usually do it for some good purpose they believe in. He might have fed his family and justified slavery for it." Liquid replied. "I was created in a laboratory so I don't understand this bond as much as you do and maybe its the reason I'm so cold too people." He replied.

Miranda stood. "One day you will stop holding onto that fact and find someone you care about." She pressed the photo into his chest. "Then you'll understand." She walked away from him.

He grinned. "You truly believe that? A monster become like that? Even you hate me. I even gave up what I had closest to a family for humanity. Winning is all I have left." He replied as he looked at the picture.

Euchre looked at her worriedly.

"No, it is all you think you have left." Miranda snapped at him. "You are so caught up in doing what you believe to be right that you let everything pass you by. I don't hate you. I pity you."

"You know nothing of me. You don't understand the atrocities I had to endure. If I simply could be normal I would. The fact is that I was created to be such a being to end this world. What I want to be is someone who rids the world of people who wish to harm it." Liquid replied. "Even if I need to sacrifice things for myself. Maybe people like you can see a future without this. Currently I need to exist in this state." He replied pocketing the picture.

Miranda hid a small smile. " Then why keep the picture?"

"To remind me what I'm fighting for and maybe to keep me sane." Liquid replied as more Core soldiers began to reveal themselves and help them with the slaves.

Miranda smiled before walking over toEuchre. "You okay?" She asked him

"I'm hurt but I think I'm fine." He replied. "I'm just glad your ok." He said as he brushed himself off.

"Ditto." Miranda said to him

Liquid ordered the slaves into a few convoys. The ground rumbled underneath them and Liquid assured them it was fine as he began talking to some others.

"I'm just worried of the others in this city." He replied.

"Well, we can't do anything for them now." Miranda said.

"I know but I don't like war becoming the standard." Euchre replied. "It worries me that your kind wages it more than intellectual studies."

"Don't I know it." Miranda laughed. "We're a greedy bunch. We always want more, need more. More land, more power, more money etc."

"I promise to help you in any way I can." Euchre replied as he talked to the others in another language.

An elder one replied back and pointed at Miranda.

Euchre seemed a bit shocked.

"What did he say?" Miranda asked in a soft voice.

"People from your region eradicated my species from that area... He said he can remember them smell from your city and the ones who lost when he was young. He believes he is worried it will happen again and that this human warfare will not stop." Euchre replied as he turned back too the elder.

The elder revealed its arms which were filled with nothing but scars and looked so unnatural to be real. The elder began to speak too Miranda. "You... Kind... Say... You... Help... This... What... Happens..." He said as he pointed at the chambers. "If... Continue... My... Kind... Will... Die." The elder looked at her.

"If I wanted your kind to die, or be enslaved I would not have done what I did." Miranda said. "I am not my 'kind'. I am individual. I don't believe slavery should be for anyone, nor death when they become too weak. We should be passed this sort of behavior by now."

"You don't understand." Another Keidran replied sitting next to the chamber. "Your kind horrendously mistreats those who are different. Even though you are human I believe they wouldn't even consider you a part of them." The Keidran stood and looked at her. "I believe in your history you used chambers like these to kill others who followed a different religious belief. It reveals that you don't treat others with the same regard if they are different and if you haven't noticed the Keidran are drastically different. Even with your help we fear for the others and are frightened of any revolts by our species."

Euchre didn't seem very happy with the response.

"You make it sound like you're expecting me to help turn about a change." Miranda said. "Why else would you go into such detail? I am only one woman, one woman who no longer holds the power she once did. Even if I could, I probably wouldn't. I've seen what comes of people who stick theirs necks out. I just want to live my life alone, and without the consent guilt trips by every Dave, dick and harry." She took a deep breath. "I'm sorry I can't be the Goddamn hero everyone expects. I aint no captain America." She glared at Liquid before turning and leaving the tunnels.

Euchre followed and Liquid grabbed him by the shoulder. "I'll see what Captain America has to say." Liquid replied as he followed Miranda.

He went down in the tunnels and lit a light as he searched for her.
