RP Place of RP

Liquid looked at her and stood silently. He set a piece of garbage on fire and placed it between them. The darkness still seemed to envelope them as the fire tried desperately too hold it back.

"Overwhelmed?" Liquid asked as he put his back against the wall.

Miranda looked up at him with one hand buried in her hair. "Yesterday I was this girl who rebelled to get her fathers attention. I was practically a no body. Today, I'm expected to take on this role of savior. Of course I'm overwhelmed."

He tossed her a bottle of water.

"Well you are with a man your father hates very much so I wouldn't say you aren't still rebelling." Liquid joked. "I understand the realization. I didn't choose to be like this. I actually wish I could be normal. I was created to be perfect in a sense but failed. I tried everything to please the scientists I knew as my mothers. I tried desperately but when I failed they created another. I helped with my intelligence wishing for praise but after my use was over I was nearly killed. As I escaped I came to my realization. I was never going to be normal. I grew and fought against the scientists. I was for good. Releasing children who were kidnapped and only killing those who saw no value in life. I was very different from today." Liquid paused to reminisce. "Than the war started. I believe I could change the war in my favor and end it quickly by toppling dictatorships and theocracies. It dragged on far longer than I ever could imagine and as I fought to remain the victor. I began to sacrifice what was good. I justified it by telling myself it was for the good of humanity. It would still be good for the people but a lot of people died under my name. Thats when people from within began to betray me. It caused insanity, insecurity, and violence. As I killed one of my own I came to my second realization. I was no better than those who I came to defeat. I was immediately captured and sent to a camp to work till my death. I met a person whom I will never forget. I saw her try to save the people she loved and even an infant she knew nothing of. She struggled to survive but in the end they took everything. It reminded me of what I used to fight for. It encouraged me to do it again. I eventually trained the girl and taught her. She became like my daughter. I actually trusted her but when we tried to escape the encampment I was left with a decision that cost me my happiness. She was holding as many men off as I destroyed a final wall. As I breached it I turned around to help her. She was overwhelmed. I only had two decisions. Die for what I loved or try to live and make a future in which no man has to make the mistake I had to that day. What surprised me was she actually survived and became a leader of an assassination group. I can't imagine the anger she must have for me and its an anger I understand. That was my third realization."

Liquid brushed his hair and pulled out the photograph from his pocket.

"I don't expect you to become the worlds greatest hero but in helping these slaves you revealed to me of what I wish to accomplish. Happiness for people. I am not very good at talking with others and usually refer to myself. I thought sharing my past mistakes and experiences might reveal things you might try to refrain from. I understand that the world might rest on your shoulders but I believe you are able too carry much more than that."

Miranda looked down at her hands. "I'm 16. How can I possibly do this?"

"I don't have the answer too everything. I only know you have the power too change things and I'm very happy it happens to be you." Liquid replied as he looked at his own hand as the shadows from the flame danced around. Scars seemed to envelope his hand. "Others would have used it for their own ambitions or power. You haven't done either." Liquid slid down the wall and fell into a sitting position. "Its your choice to do with it what you please. You may end my terror one day or your fathers. Just be glad it wasn't someone else who was like us who gained it." Liquid stroked his neck. "I only wonder why Dram gave you a sequence of DNA that Hykos and Radec were creating as a more stabilized version of my blood. Obviously something is wrong with it and it allows you to do drastic things I cannot. If you wonder why I am so interested in you is because you may hold what little humanity I may have left within your body."

"He gave it to me to save me." Miranda said. "I was dying and it healed me."

"That also means you saved someone." Liquid replied. "Probably meant for someone else."

Miranda shook her head. She sighed softly. "I don't know..."

"Just be glad you have that power and not your father. Thats why I don't care how you use it but am worried your father might find out." He replied. "I'm still figuring out what he is trying to accomplish."

Miranda sighed. "We'll never know."

"Why are you so upset?" He asked. "You are someone who actually matters in this world now."

"I never wanted to be." Miranda said. "Too much responsibility. Too many people counting on me. If I do something wrrong, people could die."

"It will happen regardless. Someone was bound to be chosen. People were bound to die. Would you rather let someone else have the responsibility and fail? With you at least you have the choice of succeeding. Others with the power have abused it. Are you at least going to make a change?"

Miranda sighed and closed her eyes. "I will try."

"Good." Liquid replied. "Don't hold others as your weight. You wont be able to hold them all."

Miranda nodded. "I'll just have to learn how not to."

"Well keep the friends you have. You seem to have a good friendship with that Keidran. Keep it. It'll help you stay sane. Even though you desperately believe staying in your city would have kept you normal. I strongly believe you would be in a cage right now being studied on how you accepted the new strands and didn't fall into a vegetative state." Liquid replied. "At least hear I just keep my eye on you without holding you back."

Miranda nodded. "Yes, sir."

"Don't call me sir. I'm not a general who loosely sends his troops to combat and ignores any casualties. I'm much better than that." Liquid replied.

A radio on his hip began to buzz. "The doctor has been seized by the mob and they have moved to the Suer part of town. We have no confirmation that he is dead or alive but they seem to be dragging his body which doesn't appear to be a good sign."

Liquid frowned and grabbed the radio. "Try to rescue him. Scare the civilians and use Armac's to keep them away once your down there. Avoid violence."

"Well lets try to help the man who helped you."

Miranda nodded. "I'll see what I can do." She stood. "And that Keidran, he has a name."

"I'm sorry about my hostility but I've experienced the worst of the Keidran. They annihilated my men when we retreated to their island. I was surprised they would be just as hostile too humans that offered them help. Euchre seems to be of the hierarchy. No idea why he would be here but he would be worth more than you can imagine on the market. Seems a bit tiresome. He probably doesn't even know how to act free."

Miranda nodded. "He doesn't, but he's getting there. Thats all that matters"

"You've never seen the species before have you? Your city lacks them." He replied.

"Our city is made up of mainly human. Cyborgs are rear, but not unseen." Miranda said

"I heard of that being used in your city. The league of nations is the same but I believe it to be detrimental to their society." Liquid replied. "Why do you believe you belong there?"
